Working with the developers of this development of 24 apartments in St Saviourgate, I advised on layouts; the whole fit out of apartments and communal areas and on the marketing. I completely bespoked the interior of apartment 24 and completed the others individually by selecting a standard specification with colour variations.
I developed the Biba apartment branding synonymous with a high end specification. My role included sourcing and designing all the "touch and feel" elements such as kitchens, bathrooms, doors and furniture, wardrobes, colour schemes, appliances, wall and floor finishes, tiling, sound and vision etc as well as preparing and furnishing the 5 show apartments.
I designed apartments that say "no" to the mediocre and offered our buyers a carefully considered interior providing elegance and comfort combined with modern day conveniences such as underfloor heating, programmable lighting, built in speakers, 5 amp lighting circuits, instant bathroom lighting, tv's in bathrooms, steam ovens, wine fridges and instant hot water taps.
The GDV of the development increased by “ a few £m” by the developers allowing me to pay so much attention to the detail and we broke the £550m per sq. ft. in sales almost making £600 per sq.ft , which I think was probably a first for York city centre apartment sales.
