My client had owned a dated farmhouse for a number of years and a few years ago decided a complete renovation and extension was necessary.
When I first looked at the plans they didn't really fulfill the client brief for the internal layout so I brought in my own architect and the clients desire for somewhere with a very open plan ground floor was achieved.
Initially, the plan would have had entrance at the front door and no division before exit at the back door, so I explained to the client how that could lead to various inconveniences.
Instead of the off-the-peg staircase which the original architects had proposed I took my client to my favourite staircase maker and we had a beautiful sculpted staircase created, it was so beautiful that my client wanted to be able to see it on entering his front door.
I was able to solve two problems in one by using frameless glass doors in different locations which created the zones I wanted and prevented drafts if the large front door was open, gave a sense of privacy and most importantly for my client made the staircase truly visible from many angles, including the moment you entered the front door.
Similar attention to detail was given to the layout throughout to achieve what was wanted.
To keep the flow through of the feeling of spaciousness we used 340 m² of the same 1 m² porcelain floor tile throughout much of the ground floor and out onto the large patio.
Attention to detail of the whole layout created the spacious, modern family home my client wanted for his wife and twin daughters.
The master suite boasts a large bathroom and dressing room and there are three further bedrooms and bathrooms.
Huge ground floor windows take advantage of the spacious landscaped gardens with the man-made lake and the location of the garage was positioned to avoid obstructing any of the glorious view.
